I've never tried anything el...I'm not sure. I've never tried anything else. I've seen similar recipes where they've used root beer so you could try that if you don't want to use coke. The coke gives it a sweet flavor so it might be hard to substitute. You could try molasses but it will probably give it a different flavor.
